Packers missing mark on defense
Rob Reischel laid it out in his article in the May 4-10 Packer Plus edition that GM Ted’s Achilles heel is the defense. It was seen last season in the NFC Championship Game against Atlanta. It has been in the last 11 seasons with him in charge of securing defensive players and building a solid, formidable, impenetrable, powerful defense; and we saw it during this year’s draft, his 13th.
Ted’s tendency is the offense. Tremendous! So he got Martellus (the hammer) Bennett and two or three other good TEs in addition. He has, it appears, plugged up the guard spots and besides drafting additional receivers, we have a pretty good supply on hand.
So, why in the world didn’t he concentrate more on the defense in this draft?
It seems to me he can’t or has no passion in building strong, fortified D-first as the basis for a winning team.
