Man faces trespassing charge
A Bartow man is being held on bond after Palm Beach police said officers found him with a stolen bicycle while he was trespassing on a construction site where he had been sleeping.
Christopher St. Nicholas Starkey, 26, is charged with felony trespassing on a construction site, misdemeanor petit theft and misdemeanor loitering, according to a police report.
Officer Christopher Swinarski wrote in the report that he found Star- key at 1:57 p.m. May 10 in the back of a construction site at 322 S. County Road, where Swinarski was doing an additional patrol based on reports of someone sleeping and leaving personal items there.
The property is an unoccupied multiuse building that people can access through shared easements, according to the report.
Starkey told the officer he had left a bicycle with a flat tire and some clothes at the construc- tion site the night before, the report said. Police later learned the bicycle had been reported stolen in 2010.
The bicycle was valued at $250, according to the report.
Starkey was on inmate release for a burglary conviction, the report said. He was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail, where he remained Thursday on $3,000 bond.
