Police arrest man driving wrong way on DUI charge
A Lake Worth man was charged with driving under the influence Monday after an officer saw him drive the wrong way on Peruvian Avenue, according to a police report.
The officer stopped Luis Alonso Rosales Ayala, 42, after observing him drive under the speed limit southbound on Hibiscus Avenue and then west on Peruvian Avenue, a one- way eastbound street, according to the report.
The report said Rosales Ayala didn’t have a driver’s license but presented his passport. He appeared disoriented, according to the report.
According to police, Rosales Ayala swayed during the sobriety test and could not perform some tasks because of a language barrier.
At the Palm Beach County Jail, Rosales Ayala registered 0.118 and 0.130 on two breath tests, the report said, exceeding the legal limit of 0.08.
Rosales Ayala was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence, and cited for not having a driver’s license and for driving the wrong way.
He was released Monday morning on his own recognizance, according to jail records.
He could not be reached for comment.
