Po­lice ar­rest man driv­ing wrong way on DUI charge

A Lake Worth man was charged with driv­ing un­der the in­flu­ence Mon­day after an of­fi­cer saw him drive the wrong way on Peru­vian Av­enue, ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port.

The of­fi­cer stopped Luis Alonso Ros­ales Ayala, 42, after ob­serv­ing him drive un­der the speed limit south­bound on Hi­bis­cus Av­enue and then west on Peru­vian Av­enue, a one- way east­bound street, ac­cord­ing to the re­port.

The re­port said Ros­ales Ayala didn’t have a driver’s li­cense but pre­sented his pass­port. He ap­peared dis­ori­ented, ac­cord­ing to the re­port.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, Ros­ales Ayala swayed dur­ing the so­bri­ety test and could not per­form some tasks be­cause of a lan­guage bar­rier.

At the Palm Beach County Jail, Ros­ales Ayala registered 0.118 and 0.130 on two breath tests, the re­port said, ex­ceed­ing the le­gal limit of 0.08.

Ros­ales Ayala was charged with mis­de­meanor driv­ing un­der the in­flu­ence, and cited for not hav­ing a driver’s li­cense and for driv­ing the wrong way.

He was re­leased Mon­day morn­ing on his own re­cog­ni­zance, ac­cord­ing to jail records.

He could not be reached for com­ment.
