Traffic congestion on Okeechobee Boulevard is getting worse — and it’s time to have a public discussion about it, local officials say.

Mayor Gail Coniglio; Mack Bernard, a Palm Beach County commissioner whose district includes part of Palm Beach; and Shanon Materio, a West Palm Beach city commissioner, are co-hosting a public forum Monday to discuss how the traffic problem is affecting the city and town.

The forum will start at 8:30 a.m. at the Palm Beach County Convention, 650 Okeechobee Blvd. in West Palm Beach. Doors will open an hour earlier.

The Florida Department of Transportation will join the workshop, which Coniglio said will examine pedestrian safety, factors contributing to the worsening congestion and future develop- ment. The public is encouraged to preregister by visiting PBCtraffic. com. Those attending will be able to submit questions and concerns to be addressed during the workshop.
