Motorist hit with pot charges
A Lake Worth man was arrested late Sunday after Palm Beach police say they found several bags of pot in his car during a traffic stop.
Wanel Dorceus, 24, was charged with possession of marijuana over 20 grams and intent to sell, both felonies. He also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail early Monday morning and released Tuesday night on a $3,000 bond.
A Palm Beach police officer was checking on the Beach Club on North County Road when he saw Dorceus’ car leave the parking lot with its windows lowered and smelled marijuana, according to the arrest report.
The officer searched the car and found a “small baggie” of marijuana, a carved pipe and a digital scale in the driver’s door pocket, according to the report. A large Ziploc bag containing a num- ber of smaller bags filled with marijuana was found behind the passenger seat, the report said. The marijuana weighed 92.7 grams, according to police.
Dorceus was charged with intent to sell “due to the amount of marijuana, how it was packaged, the plastic baggies, and the digital scale,” the report said.
