Ethel Offit Jacobs
Ethel Offit Jacobs, of Palm Beach, died Thursday, May 18, 2017. She was 98.
She was born in Durham, N.C., on May 17, 1919, the eldest of four children of Lena and Morris A. Offit.
She was raised in Baltimore, attended Goucher College and mar- ried Nathaniel Jacobs. The couple moved to Palm Beach in the mid-1970s. She resided there until her death.
Mrs. Jacobs was a docent and greeter at the Norton Museum of Art and served as journal chairwoman, board member and president of the Jewish Guild for the Blind.
She also served on the membership committee of the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts Foundation Guild and on the board of Alpert Jewish Family and Children’s Services.
Survivors include sons Alan Jacobs and Carl (Janet) Jacobs, brother Simon B. Offit (Peter Cowan) and grandchildren Jarrod Jacobs and Robyn Jacobs (Douglas van Orsow). She also is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jacobs was predeceased by a brother, Howard Offit.
A funeral for her was held May 21 in Baltimore.
