GAR­DEN PARTY SMELLS OF SUC­CESS

Founder Au­drey Gruss an­nounces re­lease of new fra­grance col­lec­tion at ben­e­fit at her New York home.

SOUTHAMP­TON — The in­tro­duc­tion of a new fra­grance col­lec­tion to ben­e­fit char­ity high­lighted a “White Tea Gar­den Party” on Aug. 26. Au­drey Gruss hosted the event, which took place in the gar­dens and pool house of her Southamp­ton home, and hon­ored the Hope For De­pres­sion Re­search Foun­da­tion.

Gruss asked 30 of her clos­est women friends to dress in white for an af­ter­noon that be­gan with a re­cep­tion and tea sand­wiches in the gar­den.

Af­ter the re­cep­tion, guests moved to the pool houses — where the ta­bles, cov­ered in white linen, were cen­tered with all-white ar­range­ments gar­de­nia, jas­mine, lily-of-the-val­ley and tuberose, all scents re­flected in the new per­fume col­lec­tion — for a se­lec­tion of white teas and all-white desserts.

Gruss spoke briefly, an­nounc­ing that the col­lec­tion, called Hope, launched at se­lect Saks Fifth Av­enue stores and on saks.com. One hun­dred per­cent of pro­ceeds are ear­marked for the Hope for De­pres­sion Re­search Foun­da­tion, founded by Gruss in honor of her mother.

The group’s mis­sion is to fund the most in­no­va­tive neu­ro­science re­search into the ori­gins, di­ag­no­sis, treat­ment and pre­ven­tion of de­pres­sion and other mood dis­or­ders, in­clud­ing bipo­lar dis­or­der, post­par­tum de­pres­sion, post-trau­matic stress syn­drome, anx­i­ety dis­or­der and sui­cide.
