GARDEN PARTY SMELLS OF SUCCESS
Founder Audrey Gruss announces release of new fragrance collection at benefit at her New York home.
SOUTHAMPTON — The introduction of a new fragrance collection to benefit charity highlighted a “White Tea Garden Party” on Aug. 26. Audrey Gruss hosted the event, which took place in the gardens and pool house of her Southampton home, and honored the Hope For Depression Research Foundation.
Gruss asked 30 of her closest women friends to dress in white for an afternoon that began with a reception and tea sandwiches in the garden.
After the reception, guests moved to the pool houses — where the tables, covered in white linen, were centered with all-white arrangements gardenia, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley and tuberose, all scents reflected in the new perfume collection — for a selection of white teas and all-white desserts.
Gruss spoke briefly, announcing that the collection, called Hope, launched at select Saks Fifth Avenue stores and on saks.com. One hundred percent of proceeds are earmarked for the Hope for Depression Research Foundation, founded by Gruss in honor of her mother.
The group’s mission is to fund the most innovative neuroscience research into the origins, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of depression and other mood disorders, including bipolar disorder, postpartum depression, post-traumatic stress syndrome, anxiety disorder and suicide.
