Board still un­sat­is­fied with lake­front house de­sign

Mem­bers: Vene­tian-style home still too large for Es­tate Sec­tion lot.

Five times an ar­chi­tect has pre­sented plans to the Ar­chi­tec­tural Com­mis­sion for a Vene­tian-style house to be built on a lake­front lot at 235 Via Viz­caya.

And five times the board has de­manded changes to those plans, re­peat­edly ad­mon­ish­ing the de­sign team that if built, the two-story house would be too large for the ir­reg­u­larly shaped lot — re­sem­bling a trun­cated slice of pie — in the Es­tate Sec­tion. The lot mea­sures about a third of an acre.

The Ar­chi­tec­tural Com­mis­sion has once again asked for re­vi­sions that scale down a Vene­tian-style house pro­posed for a re­cently sold va­cant lot at 235 Via Viz­caya in the Es­tate Sec­tion. Its lake­front fa­cade is de­picted here.
