Get­ting back into town

Once the di­rec­tor of pub­lic safety de­clares a state of emer­gency within the town be­cause of a hur­ri­cane, po­lice will es­tab­lish road­blocks at each of the ac­cess points and bridges lead­ing into town. The road­blocks will pre­vent ac­cess to the is­land while con­di­tions are un­safe, town of­fi­cials say.

A manda­tory evac­u­a­tion has been or­dered for the town.

At the dis­cre­tion of town of­fi­cials, the fol­low­ing peo­ple will be al­lowed into Palm Beach:

Those who can pro­vide doc­u­men­ta­tion prov­ing they are res­i­dents; em­ploy­ees/per­sonal rep­re­sen­ta­tives of a res­i­dent; busi­ness own­ers; or em­ploy­ees/rep­re­sen­ta­tives of a busi­ness owner;

Those listed on the emer­gency con­tact lists pro­vided by the Po­lice De­part­ment;

Me­dia per­son­nel with valid cre­den­tials;

Emer­gency per­son­nel driv­ing an un­marked ve­hi­cle; or

Those ap­proved by the field com­mand post or emer­gency op­er­a­tions cen­ter.
