A Loxahatchee man, stopped at the Royal Park Bridge police checkpoint was arrested when he attempted to drive into Palm Beach in violation of the town’s Hurricane Irma midnight curfew and entry restrictions, according to police records.

Andres Esteban Alonzo, 28, was arrested at 1:50 a.m. Friday and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and op- erating a vehicle without a valid license.

The driver and the lone passenger “smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes,” the report says. In addition, there was vomit on the driver’s side door and an open Corona beer bottle in the front cup holder. A large number of open beer cans and unopened beer bottles were in the rear of the vehicle, according to police.

Alonzo, who told the officer he had drunk two beers and was returning from a party, didn’t know where he was and “stated he was in Wellington,” the report says.

He was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail and released at 10:12 a.m. Friday, according to county records.
