Overnight work continues on Flagler Bridge
Here are construction and traffic updates for this week.
Flagler Memorial Bridge: The bridge will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. today-Wednesday for the installation of permanent striping, according to the Florida Department of Transportation. Quadrille Boulevard between Dixie Highway and Flagler
Drive between Fourth Street and Seventh Street will also be closed during those hours. The intersection of Royal Poinciana Way and Cocoanut Row/ Bradley Place also may be closed during this time, FDOT said.
Island Road bridge: A single lane will be closed as repairs are done to cracked and damaged concrete Monday-Friday.
Hurricane Irma aftermath: In parks and common areas, trees will be trimmed and branches and limbs broken during Hurricane Irma will be removed. There will be intermittent lane closures and parking stalls will be used where available. These areas will be affected: North County Road; ficus canopy between Wells Road and Miraflores, Wrightsman and Dean Park, Emerald Park, Lakeside Park, Worth Avenue and County Road, Royal Palm Way kapok trees, Peruvian Avenue and Phipps Plaza.
Coconut palm trimming: Expect limit lane closures and periodic blocking of parking stalls. The following streets will be affected: Monday — Worth Avenue (blocks 100-400); 100 block of Royal Palm Way. Tuesday — Hibiscus (blocks 0-400), Cocoanut Row (blocks 100-400), Brazilian Avenue (blocks 100-400), Australian Avenue (blocks 100-200). Wednesday — Australian Avenue (blocks 300-400), Chilean (blocks 100-400), Peruvian (blocks 100400). Thursday — all of South Lake Drive, Gulstream Avenue, Via Marina and Middle Road. Friday — Causeway and traffic circle, Ibis Way circle, Ibis Isle Park, South Fire, Peruvian Park, D-14, Park Avenue and town nursery.
Worth Avenue work: Damaged concrete palm tree surrounds will be removed. Some parking spaces will be closed during the work, which continues through the
300 block and affects both north and south sides of the street.
Sidewalk repair: Sections of cracked or damaged sidewalks will be removed and replaced, closing parking spaces. The following areas will be affects: South Ocean Boulevard, Clarke Avenue, Via Marina,
Main Street, Gulfstream Road, Sunset Avenue, Middle Road, Seminole Avenue, Hammon Avenue, Everglade Avenue, Peruvian Avenue, Wells Circle, Chilean Avenue, Park Avenue, Australian Avenue, North County Road, South Lake Drive, Royal Palm Way, Seaspray Avenue, Brazilian Avenue, Cocoanut Row and Seabreeze Avenue.
Country Club Road closure: Due to work on the D-8 Pump Station, Public Works has to place a trailer-mounted temporary generator in the roadway in front of the station. The road will be open to local traffic only until further notice.
Lake Trail improvements: Paving work continues and the path will be closed at these locations from Monday until Oct. 27: Tangier Avenue to Dunbar Road, Dunbar Road cul-de-sac and Whitehall Way toward Seaview Avenue.
Streetlight painting: A town contractor will be painting streetlights, with intermittent closures on sidewalks and parking spaces. The following streets are affected: 400 block of Royal Palm Way, Gulfstream Road, 200 block of Seaspray, South Ocean Boulevard from Barton to Sloan’s Curve, and South County Road from Worth Avenue to El Bravo.
Underground utility work: La Puerta Way will be closed to through traffic from North Ocean to
North Lake Way until Oct. 13. Laurie Lane and Onondaga Avenue are closed to through traffic. One lane on North Ocean Boulevard from Debra Lane to Caribbean Road will be closed for the installation of underground conduit; one lane of North Ocean Boulevard from Indian Road to the East Inlet will be closed for water main installation.
A sign informs motorists of nightly lane closures on the Flagler Bridge and Flagler Drive through Friday.
