Nor­ton Mu­seum of Art ex­pan­sion, slated to be com­pleted in 2019, re­mains on sched­ule

Con­struc­tion con­tin­ues at the Nor­ton Mu­seum of Art in West Palm Beach, where work­ers this sum­mer cel­e­brated the cer­e­mo­nial hoist­ing of the high­est beam on the $100 mil­lion ex­pan­sion project and to­day re­main on pace to fin­ish on sched­ule.

“Con­struc­tion is past the half­way point and on sched­ule for a pub­lic re­open­ing in Fe­bru­ary 2019,” mu­seum com­mu­ni­ca­tions di­rec­tor Scott Be­narde said late Fri­day. Un­til then, the mu­seum re­mains open for free to visi­tors. The of­fi­cial re­open­ing is sched­uled for Feb. 2, 2019.

The ex­pan­sion will fea­ture a sculp­ture gar­den at this site.

The ex­te­rior of the orig­i­nal Nes­sel wing is un­der­go­ing work as part of the ex­pan­sion project.
