Undergrounding work nicks home’s gas line

Palm Beach Daily News - - TODAY - By ELLIOTT WENZLER

A contractor working on the underground utilities project damaged a single-home service gas line at Onondaga Avenue near Laurie Lane while drilling about 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Sections of Onondaga were closed throughout the afternoon by fire department and police personnel as emergency repairs were made and flaggers directed traffic, according to a town alert.

Officers on the scene kept residents indoors and halted vehicle and pedestrian traffic to the area, said Palm Beach Police spokesman Ben Alma.

The service line was nicked during cross-directional drilling, Underground Utilities Project Manager Steven Stern said.

At about 5 p.m., the town sent an alert that the line had been repaired and the road was again open to traffic.
