Ste­wart Col­well Broberg, of Palm Beach, died Satur­day, March 24, 2018. She was 92.

She was born in Chicago and raised in Ur­bana, Ohio, by her par­ents Don­ald Col­well and Loretta John­son Col­well.

She was an avid horse lover in her youth and at­tended Stephens Col­lege in Columbia, Mis­souri.

She mar­ried Gus­tave T. Broberg Jr. in 1946 and moved to Palm Beach in 1950. Through the years she was in­volved with Op­por­tu­nity Inc., the United Way and The Epis­co­pal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea book­shop. She was an ac­tive artist; one of her works de­pict­ing Chief Jus­tice John Mar­shall is on dis­play at the Virginia His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety in Rich­mond. She also was a mem­ber of the Sail­fish Club.

Mrs. Broberg is sur­vived by a son, Peter Broberg and wife Bev­erly, of Palm Beach; a daugh­ter, Kristin B. Ford and hus­band Tom, of Dal­las; two grand­chil­dren, El­iz­a­beth Broberg and Erik Broberg, both of Palm Beach; a sis­ter-in-law, Lois H. Col­well of Dac­ula, Ge­or­gia.; a niece, Carolyn Col­well Rivers and hus­band Ben of Dac­ula; a nephew, James Col­well, of Con­cord, North Carolina; and a cousin, Paul “Pete” Dye and wife Alice, of Gulf­stream. In ad­di­tion to her hus­band, she was pre­de­ceased by her brother, Don­ald Col­well, Jr., and her grand­son, Austin Ford.

The fam­ily is plan­ning a pri­vate memo­rial ser­vice, and her ashes will be in­urned in the Colum­bar­ium at The Epis­co­pal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea.
