The Gentlemen of the Garden may have tapped into their inner Zen with Mounts Botanical Garden’s newest addition.

The local nonprofit organization and the Friends of the Mounts Botanical Garden co-hosted an official opening and ribbon cutting of the Garden of Tranquility, which was funded through a grant from the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties. The grant was underwritten by the Gentlemen of the Garden.

On April 11, Assistant County Administrator Todd Bonlarron; Mounts curator and director Rochelle Wolberg; Gentlemen of the Garden President Jonathan Cameron-Hayes; Bob Eigelberger, group co-founder; and Cooperative Extension director for Palm Beach County Ron Rice cut the ribbon at the dedication.

“The objective of the new garden at Mounts is to inspire peace and tranquility — a spiritual place for the mind and soul. The garden’s intention is not to denote any particular religion, or even to be solely religious; the interpretation of the space is subjective, and in the eyes and consciousness of the beholder,” Mounts horticulturist Joel Crippen said.
