Here’s what arts groups hope training will help them accomplish
Ten Palm Beach County cultural groups will participate in the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County’s free yearlong Arts Accelerator program.
Led by the DeVos Institute of Arts Management at the University of Maryland, the program is designed to prepare them to conduct successful catalytic fundraising campaigns and attract new investment.
These are the plans the organizations will work on during the training:
Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens: Construct addi- tional indoor classroom and event space. Preserve the landmarked house and artist’s studio. Expand programming. Campaign goal: yet to be determined.
Boca Ballet Theatre: Acquire a permanent home and theater. Build endowment. Develop a membership program. Campaign goal: yet to be determined.
Boca Raton Museum of Art: Add secondary entrance and cafe, move store contiguous to Mizner Park stores, renovate lobby, update security cameras, recarpet second-floor galleries, upgrade galleries for multiple uses. Campaign goal: $3 million.
Center for Creative Education: Build endowment. Campaign goal: $5 million.
Historical Society of Palm Beach County: Reimagine the Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County History Museum’s permanent exhibition galleries. Acquire an off-site location for collection storage that also might house offices as well as exhibition building and conservation facilities. Possibly add to endowment. Campaign goal: $7.5-$10 million.
Loggerhead Marinelife Center: Enlarge sea turtle hospital, research laboratory and store. Build classrooms, auditorium, amphitheater with sea turtle tank, welcome center and cafe as well as exhibit, event and operations spaces. Campaign goal: $14 million. Raised so far: more than $9 million.
Loxahatchee River His- torical Society (operates the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum): Construct heritage center with indoor classrooms, exhibit space, discovery labs, auditorium and restrooms.
Build outdoor classroom pavilion and a replica of the first U.S. Weather Bureau Station. Campaign goal: more than $20 million.
Maltz Jupiter Theatre: Expand stage to Broadway size, add 199-seat flexible performance space, double size of conservatory, expand rehearsal and production facilities, add 40-seat cafe, redesign parking lot.
$32-$36 million. Raised so far: $13 million.
South Florida Science Center and Aquarium: Enlarge the aquarium, add second floor for a natural Florida display, expand and upgrade the Elsie Dekelboum Theater, create lobby event space.
Build a signature five-story tower to house robotics, children’s and hands-on exhibits; classrooms; offices; and a rooftop butterfly garden and event space. Campaign goal: $35 million.
Young Singers of the Palm Beaches: Grow endowment. Campaign goal: yet to be determined.
