Po­lice: Man won’t pay tab, pushes man

A Texas man was ar­rested in Palm Beach Sept. 22 af­ter as­sault­ing a 68-year-old man and walk­ing out on his $120 restau­rant bill, ac­cord­ing to Palm Beach po­lice.

Scott Charles Brown, 56, was eat­ing din­ner at Re­nato’s at 87 Via Mizner with an­other man at about 8 p.m. when he be­gan curs­ing at the man­ager and re­fused to pay his tab, a cus­tomer told po­lice, ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port.

Brown then left the restau­rant and be­gan swear­ing at the 68-yearold man, po­lice said. The man said to Brown, “ex­cuse me, we don’t use that lan­guage in Palm Beach,” ac­cord­ing to the af­fi­davit. Po­lice then said Brown pushed the man twice in his chest and tried to punch him.

Po­lice ar­rived on the scene and said Brown was “very in­tox­i­cated” and was strug­gling to keep his bal­ance. Brown ad­mit­ted to po­lice he did not pay his bill, ac­cord­ing to the af­fi­davit.

Brown was ar­rested and charged with bat­tery on a per­son 65 years or older, a felony. Re­nato’s did not wish to pros­e­cute for Brown’s un­paid tab, ac­cord­ing to the af­fi­davit.

Brown was re­leased Sept. 23 on his own re­cog­ni­zance.
