Police: Man won’t pay tab, pushes man
A Texas man was arrested in Palm Beach Sept. 22 after assaulting a 68-year-old man and walking out on his $120 restaurant bill, according to Palm Beach police.
Scott Charles Brown, 56, was eating dinner at Renato’s at 87 Via Mizner with another man at about 8 p.m. when he began cursing at the manager and refused to pay his tab, a customer told police, according to a police report.
Brown then left the restaurant and began swearing at the 68-yearold man, police said. The man said to Brown, “excuse me, we don’t use that language in Palm Beach,” according to the affidavit. Police then said Brown pushed the man twice in his chest and tried to punch him.
Police arrived on the scene and said Brown was “very intoxicated” and was struggling to keep his balance. Brown admitted to police he did not pay his bill, according to the affidavit.
Brown was arrested and charged with battery on a person 65 years or older, a felony. Renato’s did not wish to prosecute for Brown’s unpaid tab, according to the affidavit.
Brown was released Sept. 23 on his own recognizance.
