Take me Baca

Pasatiempo - - Mixed Media -

In days gone by, people would get so excited about Christmas that they would start planning for it in advance by putting up their holiday tree as early as January. Here in Santa Fe, you can start feeling the Yuletide spirit by visiting the Soho of Santa Fe— aka Baca Street— and take in its ninth annual arts tour. All proceeds will benefit the Rose Simmons Memorial Scholarship fund. The event runs from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5 and 6. Roughly 20 artists showcase work for sale, including blown-glass items, jewelry, CDs, and paintings. Participating shops and artists include Laird Hovland Sculpture Studio, Liquid Light Glass Studio & Gallery, Erika Wanenmacher (of Ditch Witch Store fame), Ima Glass Studio, and the Moontree Boutique. You will often find the artists engaged in demonstrations as they make their wares right before your eyes. Call Liquid Light Glass at 820-2222 for information.
