Roaming in the gloaming

Scotland is shrouded in myth and mystery; it’s known for its bagpipes, kilts, the Loch Ness Monster, and clan bakes. Separating fact from friction isn’t always easy, but author Brian C. Mack and illustrator Karol Mack attempt to do just that with their book Scotland: Castles and Clans — The Legends. Roughly 50 of Mack’s paintings of Scottish castles are in the book. The duo take part in a book signing and opening reception for an exhibition of paintings from the book at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at the Mesa Public Library in Los Alamos. The exhibition runs through Jan. 30. The library is at 2400 Central Ave., call 662-8247.
