See the beaded lady!
Bead mania comes to town this weekend as Santa Fe hosts one of the largest consumer bead and jewelry shows in the Southwest. Bead Fest Santa Fe 2010 features more than 180 exhibitors and 90 classes, and the workshops aren’t just limited to beadwork. Instructors take you through the nuts and bolts of the professional jewelry biz with classes in chain maille, clay, designing, kiln fusing, metalsmithing, and wire weaving. The festival takes place at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center (201 W. Marcy St.) and La Fonda (100 E. San Francisco St.) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, March 19 and 20, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 21. Admission is $10 a day, $12 for a two-day pass, and $14 for a three-day pass — this gets you into the shopping areas and some demos. Attending workshops will cost you extra (you can register for them on-site). For information, visit www.beadfest.com.
