Making and taking steps
Dancers depend on the company of others, unlike many other artists who work in isolation. In the classroom, in rehearsal, or on stage, they are supported by fellow dancers, teachers, and choreographers. The New Mexico Dance Coalition was founded in 1986 by four dancers with this idea of cooperation in mind. At 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, March 26 and 27, the coalition presents its 23rd Annual Choreographers Showcase, which gives dance makers at all levels an opportunity to have their works professionally produced. Performances of mambo, ballroom, modern, interpretive, and belly dance can be seen at The Railyard Performance Center, 1611 Paseo de Peralta. The tickets, $12, $8 for students, and $5 for children under 12, are available at the door. For information, call 920-0554.
