Thank you for not thinking
Has your navel gotten fuzzy from all that gazing? You’re not alone — according to scientists, human beings spend more time thinking today than they ever did in the past, which, according to some thinkers, doesn’t exist (neither does the future, but we’ll talk about that later). Whew ... it gets exhausting, all this thinking, so why not take a break and let someone else do it? St. John’s College has invited noted thinker Robert Richardson to speak on the topic of “Thinking on Thinking.” (Richardson is well qualified to speak on this topic, as he served as one of the school’s professors — or “tutors,” in the lingo of this singular institution of higher reading.) The synapsesizzling action gets underway at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, in the Junior Common Room in the Peterson Student Center at St. John’s (1160 Camino de Cruz Blanca, 984-6000). The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 984-6070.
