The Short Order

Counter Culture is a popular local haunt; very rarely is the parking lot or dining room empty. Breakfasts are best. Lunch includes daily soups and an array of sandwiches and salads. At dinner, the menu is more upscale, featuring several seafood dishes, chicken, and

steak. This is a comfortable, colorful place to hang out, people-watch, or gab with old friends. But with its

groovy-grungy industrial-hipster chic, local art, and free wireless Internet service, food almost seems beside the point. Recommended: cinnamon rolls, huevos

rancheros, and Cobb salad.

Ratings range from 0 to 4 chiles. This reflects the reviewer’s experience with regard to food and drink, atmosphere, service, and value.
