A veritable herd of photographers, photography book and magazine editors, and gallerists converges on Santa Fe this Friday, June 4, for Center’s fifth annual portfolio viewing. Among the people coming to review work by up to 100 photographers are editors from The New
Yorker and Newsweek; curators from the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, the Tatar Gallery in Toronto, and the Library of Congress; and representatives of publishers including Dewi Lewis in England and Princeton Architectural Press in New York.
“The portfolio viewing is held in conjunction with Review Santa Fe, which is an event for invited photographers to meet with these photographic professionals who are looking for new work,” said Laura Pressley, executive director of Center. “It’s fantastic for the photographers for networking and career advancement, but the public is also invited to peruse the work in an informal, expo-style show on tabletops.” The event takes place at the Santa Fe Hilton, 100 Sandoval St., from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Admission is free; call 984-8353.
