He was a found­ing mem­ber of the Ir­ish bands Sweeney’s Men in 1966, Planxty in 1970, and Pa­trick Street in 1986, and he has also played East­ern Euro­pean mu­sic, in­clud­ing with the band Mo­saic. A vo­cal­ist in­spired by Woody Guthrie, Irvine also waxes melodic on the bouzouki, har­mon­ica, man­dolin, and hurdy-gurdy. Ad­mis­sion to the set at Gig, 1808 Sec­ond St., is $20.
