An aged backwoods hermit (Robert Duvall, also one of the film’s executive producers) comes to town to arrange his own funeral, even though he’s not planning to die anytime soon. The trailer suggests a wry comedy, but in fact, this film offers an oddball combo of humor, old-time religion, and tragedy. The cast is good, with Bill Murray excelling as the darkly amusing head of the funeral home. Rated PG-13. 103 minutes. Regal
