The burning of Will Shuster’s Zozobra
is right around the corner, which means it’s time to skewer Santa Fe society, culture, and politics with the 2010 Fiesta Melodrama. This year’s play, directed by Matt Sanford and Eliot Gray Fisher is, as always, penned anonymously. In keeping with tradition, alternate silly titles for this show (one is A Gargantuan Gloom Machine, Groovy Ganja Greens, Greedy Grasping Fiends and Grappling Fiesta Queens Generate Gaily Garrulous Scenes) are mandatory. Catch performances of the melodrama at the Santa Fe Playhouse (142 E. DeVargas St.) at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27; 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28; 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29; and 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2. The play runs Thursdays to Sundays through Sept. 12. General admission tickets, $10 to $20, are available by calling 988-4262. Online reservations: www.santafeplayhouse.org.
