Even more music in them thar hills
On Sunday, Sept. 5, head about 12 miles north of the Old Blinking Light on N.M. 150 to Taos Ski Valley for the Second Annual Taos Mountain Music Festival. Held at the base of the ski runs, this fresh-faced festival was a smashing success in 2009. This year’s event, which runs from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. (gates open at 10 a.m.), includes performances by Mariachi Calor, Mia Borders, Radio La Chusma, Shemekia Copeland, Yonder Mountain String Band, and festival headliner, rockers Gov’t Mule. You can also enjoy the kids’ play zone, nearby restaurants, and a “Strawberry Fair” marketplace with arts, crafts, and concessions. All-day festival tickets are $42 in advance at www.holdmyticket.com or by calling 505-886-1251; admission is $48 at the door, ages 10 and under no charge. Visit www.taosmountainmusicfestival.com for more information.
