The Short Order

Inside the Sanbusco Market Center, El Tesoro Café cooks up a mix of New Mexican and El Salvadoran favorites. It does a brisk lunchtime business for an enthusiastic crowd that is apparently averse to spice. Consider ordering from the menu’s Central American specialties. Pupusas (Central American stuffed corn cakes)

are hearty, with fillings ranging from pork to an edible flowering vine. Make sure to visit during the lunchtime rush, as the kitchen doesn’t seem to be adequately prepped or staffed for dinner visitors. Recommended: loroco pupusas, fried plantains, and yucca fritters.

Ratings range from 0 to 4 chiles. This reflects the reviewer’s experience with regard to food and drink, atmosphere, service, and value.
