THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNETS’ NEST
Part three of the Millennium trilogy picks up where the second installment left off, with a bullet in its heroine’s brain. There are shadowy plots afoot to terminate Lisbeth Salander (the wonderful Noomi Rapace), while Micke Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist) races to assemble the evidence to clear her name. Director Daniel Alfredson builds tension expertly, crediting his audience with the intelligence and patience to bear with him as he meticulously assembles his scenes. The movie is beautifully photographed by Peter Mokrosinski with a chilly palette of grays and blues. Perhaps the best movie of the series. Rated R. 148 minutes. In Swedish with subtitles. The Screen, Santa Fe.
