UNSTOPPABLE

Pasatiempo - - Moving Images -

Denzel Washington is a 28-year veteran engineer tutoring a first-day rookie (Chris Pine) on a Pennsylvania train when hell threatens to break loose, thanks to an unmanned runaway train. Martin Bomback’s script features a slew of likable but flawed characters all trying to do the right thing, and Tony Scott’s direction is on the money when it comes to editing, acting, and action. The performers give a constant sense of intensity to their characters, but it wears thin after a bit, and there’s a lot of corn sprinkled into the proceedings near the end. Still, it’s a good film that should appeal to all ages. Rated PG-13. 98 minutes. Regal Stadium 14, Santa Fe; DreamCatcher, Española. (Robert Nott)
