Flute city: Santa Fe Flute Im­mer­sion

Santa Fe Flute Im­mer­sion, a study sem­i­nar for flutists that has been tak­ing place in town through the past week, reaches its con­clu­sion on Sun­day, July 6, with a clos­ing con­cert fea­tur­ing stu­dents and fac­ulty, the lat­ter com­pris­ing Bart Feller (prin­ci­pal flutist at Santa Fe Opera), Su­san Levitin (a Chicago-based pro­fes­sional), and Linda Mar­i­an­iello (the event’s or­ga­nizer, who runs the New Mex­ico Per­form­ing Arts So­ci­ety). The wide-rang­ing pro­gram in­cludes pieces by Bach, Mozart, Enescu, Howard Han­son, and Charles Tom­lin­son Griffes. Bill Ep­stein as­sists at the piano. The con­cert, which be­gins at 5:30 p.m. at the Im­mac­u­late Heart of Mary Chapel (50 Mount Carmel Road), is free and open to the pub­lic.
