Roots: Chuscales

Pasatiempo - - Random Acts -

Flamenco guitarist Jose Valle “Chuscales” was raised in a Gypsy family with deep musical roots. He has furthered them in his own right. An expatriate of Spain, Chuscales was called on to perform for Prince Felipe of Spain (now King Felipe) when he visited Santa Fe in 2009. The guitarist’s fourth annual flamenco holiday concert, entitled Gypsy Passion, may not draw royalty, but it features a number of the best flamenco artists in the Southwest. Special guests include Valeria Montes (Thursday, Dec. 18), Juan Siddi (Dec. 18 and19), and Domino Martinez (Dec. 20). Nightly shows run from Dec. 18 through Dec. 20 at 7:30 p.m. The venue is El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe (555 Camino de la Familia). Tickets, $30, are available through www.brownpapertickets.com. — L.B.
