Sax­o­phon­ist Doug Lawrence leads a quar­tet play­ing in the lat­est Santa Fe Mu­sic Col­lec­tive con­cert at 7 p.m. on Fri­day, Dec. 12. A Louisiana na­tive, Lawrence has worked with Frank Si­na­tra, Rose­mary Clooney, Benny Good­man, and many other mu­sic leg­ends. His band­mates for this con­cert, pre­sented at the Mu­seum Hill Café (710 Camino Lejo), are pi­anist Bert Dal­ton, bassist Maren Hatch, and drum­mer John Trenta­costa. They are ex­pected to per­form “Shiny Stock­ings” by Frank Foster, “Jumpin’ at the Wood­side” by Count Basie, the Ed­die Hey­wood tune “Cana­dian Sun­set,” which was pop­u­lar­ized by Gene Am­mons, and sev­eral songs by Dex­ter Gor­don and other past masters of bebop.
