Pasatiempo - - RANDOM ACTS -

Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire’s comedic romp Kimberly Akimbo opens Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Santa Fe Playhouse (142 E. DeVargas St.). The play centers on Kimberly, a teenager suffering from a rare, progeria-like illness causing her to age more than four times faster than normal. As a young woman trapped in a frail, elderly body, Kimberly must face the realities of her condition while dealing with her crazy aunt’s harebrained money schemes, her pregnant mother’s hypochondria, and an alcoholic father. Along the way she befriends Jeff, a neglected youth with whom she feels an emotional connection. Janet Davidson directs the cast, which includes Ann Roylance, Debrianna Mansisni, and Kelly Kiernan. The show, presented by For Giving Theater Ensemble, runs Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m., through March 1. Tickets are $20, with discounts available. Call 505-988-4262 for reservations or visit www.brownpapertick to buy tickets. — Michael Abatemarco
