Brass master: Josh Evans Quartet

Pasatiempo - - RANDOM ACTS -

Trumpeter Josh Evans, one of a number of newgeneration musicians mentored by venerated saxophonist Jackie McLean and a major player in New York City’s current jazz-club scene, is featured in trombonist Frank Lacy’s Smalls Legacy Band and leads a big band of his own — not to mention other, variously sized combos. Evans brings in an equally determined group of musicians — saxophonist Abraham Burton, bassist Dezron Douglas, and drummer Kush Abadey — to play at the Den (downstairs at Coyote Café, 132 W. Water St.) at 6 and 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6. Tickets are $75 to $150; call 505-670-6482 for reservations.
