Our world speeds up this week. Though the sun is still wafting through intuitive and introspective Pisces, Mars, the planet symbolizing motivation and energy, just entered feisty, energized Aries, followed by Venus and the moon on Friday. As they do, our emotional milieu goes from swampy and introspective to reactive and passionate.

Our histamines may spike, our irritation levels twitch, and our ambition and willfulness crank up. This leaves a lot of emotional fuel lying around ready to catch fire, so we have to be careful what sparks we strike. We’ll be more emotional than logical and more motivated than farsighted.

Luckily, Mercury in Aquarius can give us mental objectivity. When our emotional fire heats up, we can choose to step away and get some perspective. Venus and Mars trine Saturn early next week, stabilizing our feelings and adding determination to our excitement. If we decide to pack up and move to Africa, this will help us make it so. That may be about our level of practicality this week as the sun conjuncts Neptune. Even while we’re motivated, we have our heads in the clouds.

Global conflagrations around water policy, boundary issues, and religious beliefs could intensify this week and for the next month as Uranus and Pluto moved into their last of seven exact squares from 2012 through the present. The wheel of fate turns. Let’s use this Aries energy to move forward and find solutions.

The weekend starts off with astrological fireworks and jogs us out of complacency. We may be inspired to launch initiatives we’ve been putting off since the turn of the year. The mood stabilizes somewhat early next week, with added stubborn determination.

Friday, Feb. 20 : We can fall in or out of love with a person, place, or thing. What we won’t want to do is be indifferent as Venus joins Mars in Aries around noon. As the moon enters Aries at 4 p.m., we’re more passionately engaged and more easily bored and prone to discontent with what we’ve done before. Interesting propositions arise — just look for consequences. Saturday, Feb. 21: On this willful day, we want do what we want to do and nothing else. If sparks fly, make them good ones. By midafternoon, events can escalate quickly as the moon squares Pluto and conjuncts Uranus. Tonight, we want to passionately engage one another. Sunday, Feb. 22: The morning is excitable; the afternoon is disconnected; and the late afternoon and evening are more settled, stubborn, and earthy as the moon enters Taurus and adds more organization to what we’ve just begun. Monday, Feb. 23: Let’s not run our head into a wall this morning as the sun squares Saturn. If there are difficult decisions to make, don’t make them from a desire to rebel or prove oneself; use that objectivity given to us by Mercury, now in philosophical Aquarius, to stand back and make wise decisions for the long haul. Tuesday, Feb. 24: Slow it down as Venus trines Saturn. Delays or extra care preserve stability and help us move with wisdom and balance. Sleep seems far away as the moon enters Gemini tonight. Wednesday, Feb. 25: We have the energy and cooperation to accomplish things, but may have trouble seeing where we’re going as Mars trines Saturn and the sun conjuncts Neptune. Use intuition and imagination to guide efforts. Let people talk it all out, and encourage their leadership — even if their ideas need to be modified. Kick the dream into a higher gear. Thursday, Feb. 26: Watch for flooding, weather damage, or feeling emotionally flooded. As our world speeds up this spring, it is truly important to hold one another’s hands. We need to move efficiently and support our hearts’ connections.
