A comedy tonight

Pasatiempo - - RAMDOM ACTS -

Stand-up comedy is a risky performance venture: It’s you facing a sea of people who expect to laugh. Either you’re funny or you fail, and a set that offends is generally considered more successful than a set that bores, which means being a member of the audience is also something of a risk. Often, funny is in the familiar — and familiar is intrinsic to Meow Wolf’s Lulz Comedy series, which began a year ago as an experiment to see whether Santa Fe is fertile comic territory. The latest installment, Bigger, Better, Faster, Longer! ,at Skylight (139 W. San Francisco St., 505-982-0775) at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, features Joser Maestas, Your Boy Reflex, Casey Haymes, Meg Burns, Joseph Zyer, and Maxwell Lucas — all residents of Northern New Mexico. For many of the comedians, the series presents the first local opportunity to try out their stand-up sets in front of audiences. Tickets for the twenty-one-and-over show ($10) are available from www.skylightsantafe.com and at the door. — J.L.
