Lauren Mabry: Cylinder 2014, earthenware
Santa Fe Clay, 545 Camino de la Familia, 505-984-1122 Stripped-down reductive forms are explored in the ceramic works of Kathy Erteman, Giselle Hicks, and Lauren Mabry in Santa Fe Clay’s latest exhibit. Erteman says her simple designs are “metaphorical in their exploration of containment and celebrate form.” Hicks is interested in pure form, creating pieces with a pinch/coil technique and textured surfaces via fingerprints. Mabry’s vibrant vessels are basic in their structural appearance but present painterly, abstract surfaces. The show opens with a 5 p.m. reception on Friday, April 17.
