The Short Order

Pasatiempo - - RESTAURANT REVIEW -

The menu at Bonsai Asian Tacos —a bright red truck near the intersection of Cerrillos Road and Vegas Verdes Drive — includes a variety of dishes, from a mango-avocado-coconut soup and a quinoa salad to quesadillas, stir fries, and a burger. But the focus is — obviously, deservedly — tacos with an Asian flair. Bonsai describes itself on Facebook as offering an “accessible gourmet experience.” Its food is creative, full-flavored, and exciting without being

pretentious — no foams or molecular gastronomy in sight — and you don’t get more accessible than a food truck in front of a pawn shop. Recommended: “Angry” chicken wings; Healthy Belly quinoa salad; tofu, tempeh, or pulled-pork tacos; and

Bonsai stir-fry with tofu.
