Patricia Aaron: Dreams Run Deep
2015, encaustic on panel
The William & Joseph Gallery, 727 Canyon Road, 505-982-9404 Patricia Aaron’s abstract paintings are inspired by the abandoned mills, train depots, farmsteads, and shopping centers that now serve as surfaces for street art and graffiti. Aaron sees beauty in urban blight, which she recontextualizes in her work. “Each mark is intentional,” she writes. “Warehouse districts, skate parks, and boarded up storefronts in London, Cape Town, Phoenix, Miami, New York City, and my hometown of Youngstown, Ohio, have found their way into each of these paintings.” Her show Metropolis opens with a 5 p.m. reception on Friday, May 1.
