New Mex­ico Mu­seum of Art, 107 W. Palace Ave., 505-476-5072 The mu­seum presents a sur­vey of works by pho­tog­ra­pher Gay Block in To Feel Less Alone: Gay Block, A Por­trait. The show in­cludes more than 40 images, shot be­tween 1975 and 2012, that ex­plore themes of gen­der, class, reli­gion, fam­ily, and sex­ual ori­en­ta­tion. Pho­to­graphs are culled from Block’s se­ries Miami, South Beach, por­traits of el­derly Jewish res­i­dents in South Florida; Camp Girls, por­traits of ado­les­cent girls experiencing the free­doms of sum­mer; and Res­cuers: Por­traits of Moral Courage in the Holo­caust. Also on view is Fire Sea­son, the last in the mu­seum’s year­long Fo­cus on Photography ex­hibit cy­cle. Fire Sea­son is a group show that in­cludes work by Pa­tri­cia Gala­gan, Philip Met­calf, and Larry Sch­warm. Both ex­hibits open on Fri­day, May 1, with a 5:30 p.m. re­cep­tion. There is no charge for ad­mis­sion to the re­cep­tion, af­ter which en­trance is by mu­seum ad­mis­sion.
