Strange feelings are swirling, communication is both magical and way off base, wild weather affects transportation, and plagues of bats roam the land. Well, maybe not that last one. We can’t blame everything on Mercury retrograde, even if it is in its own sign of Gemini and is squaring soggy, confusing Neptune, a pattern that can make this cycle (May 20-June 13) feel even more retrograde than usual.

What a wonderful time to write fiction, if we can tell fiction from reality. Reality might be very strange as Mercury, the sun, and Mars conjunct in nervy Gemini and square Neptune all week long. Let’s not get lost in a bog of memories.

Because this lineup calls for some time out, it’s probably not a good idea to tune out and step off the grid completely. We need to stay involved enough to modify specious decisions that are being made in the body politic or at the family dinner table. We can think erratically and speak sharply. Be direct and honest, and avoid sweeping statements. Friday begins in a hazy place. Over the weekend, a combination of Gemini expressiveness and Scorpio moon intensity calls for soul expression. We can have funny conversations about terribly dark topics, but we can use this to find ways of helping one another. This moon can also bring hints of romance recycled from the past — just don’t make the same mistake twice. Wednesday, a full moon in Sagittarius can mark a turning point away from some sadness or failure in the past and offer a glimpse of fresh roads opening up. The week ends with a competent if cranky Capricorn moon. Friday, May 29: We can feel bogged down as Mercury squares Neptune this morning. Be alert, and then be gentle around relationship wobbles in the midafternoon. Saturday, May 30: A sense of purpose helps. This day runs toward extremes as the moon enters deep and focused Scorpio while the sun conjuncts Mercury in talkative Gemini. Connect, but respect “do not enter” signs. Notice what’s going on underneath the words tonight. Sunday, May 31: Strong emotions have little clarity this morning as the sun squares Neptune. Feel that deep connection with the spirit. Don’t be surprised by a flood of tears or laughter. A generous streak midday can move into healing tonight. Monday, June 1: We’re preoccupied this morning, lingering over personal emotional concerns of the weekend. Our mood may be compassionate but prickly. The momentum picks up this afternoon as the moon enters more upbeat Sagittarius, but the mood becomes serious as the moon conjuncts Saturn tonight. Tuesday, June 2: The Sagittarius full moon forms a confusing, anxious, intriguing T square. At best, we can feel one with everything; at worst we can feel fried and at odds with the whole world. Unusual honesty is available and so are misunderstandings perpetuated in the name of truth. Listen with the heart instead of a very busy mind. Tonight a grand trine relaxes us and opens opportunities. Wednesday, June 3: Conversation is scattershot. Honor the urge to connect with others and build on common interests. Let human concerns float away this afternoon until the Capricorn moon sharpens our focus tonight. Thursday, June 4: It’s a good day for practical meetings with purpose; work around obstacles and plan wisely, but accept the fact that we’re not completely in control. Tonight brings an opportunity to either invalidate or validate our relationships. Choose carefully.
