June jazz: the Bert Dal­ton Trio

The Bert Dal­ton Trio plays Col­lected Works Book­store (202 Gal­is­teo St., 505-988-4226), on Fri­day, June 5. It’s the sec­ond in a se­ries of four jazz events de­signed as fundrais­ers for Santa Fe’s public ra­dio sta­tion, KSFR-FM. Dal­ton is a pi­anist whose men­tors in­clude Bill Evans, Os­car Peter­son, and Ah­mad Ja­mal. The high­lights in his discog­ra­phy are Mid­night Cof­fee, a 2001 record­ing with John Clay­ton and Jeff Hamil­ton; 2006’s Got Jazz, which he ded­i­cated to chil­dren; and The Brazil Project (2011). On June 5, he and per­cus­sion­ist John Bartlit and bassist Andy Zadrozny of­fer both jazz stan­dards and orig­i­nal com­po­si­tions. The next two gigs are J.Q. Whit­comb’s What the What band on July 3 and the Arlen Asher-John Trenta­costa Quar­tet on Aug. 7.
