Zongo Junction, an 11-piece Afrobeat ensem­ble from Brook­lyn, will earn your re­spect with its im­pres­sive horn sec­tion when it plays the Santa Fe Bandstand on the Plaza on Tues­day, July 28, from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. Play­ing mu­sic that’s eclec­tic and dance­able, with per­cus­sive beats that lift the spirit, Zongo Junction was formed in 2009 by Charles Fer­gu­son af­ter he re­turned from trav­els in Ghana. The group re­leased its first al­bum, Thieves, in 2010. No Dis­count, its third al­bum, was re­leased in 2014 by Elec­tric Cow­bell Records. Mem­bers of the band have per­formed and recorded with TV on the Ra­dio and The Walk­men, among other artists. Bandstand con­certs are free. — J.L.
