Farewell concert: Karen Marrolli

- — Jennifer Levin

After five years in Santa Fe, during which time she directed choral ministries at the United Church of Santa Fe and was music director of the Zia Singers, the Cantu Spiritus Chamber Choir, and the Santa Fe Men’s Camerata, Karen Marrolli is saying goodbye to Santa Fe with a farewell concert before moving to Birmingham, Alabama. In addition to her work as a choir director, Marrolli is also a singer/songwriter of music aimed at what she calls “survivors of life” who are on or are seeking a path from darkness to light. Her voice is deep and rich, with strains of Mary Chapin Carpenter and Joan Armatrading, and her songs are devotional, though more spiritual than specifically religious in nature. Marrolli sings at the Santa Fe Center for Spiritual Living (505 Camino de los Marquez) at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8. Admission is free, with donations accepted.
