A Schubert farewell: the Dover Quartet
A highlight of last summer’s Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival was the appearance of the Dover Quartet, which infused its performances with exceptional tonal finesse and interpretive detail. This year, the group is back to play just one string quartet, but at least it’s one of the repertoire’s major masterpieces, Schubert’s late Quartet in A minor, nicknamed the Rosamunde. (It shares the program with another late Schubert masterwork, the Piano Trio in B-flat major, performed by violinist William Preucil, cellist Eric Kim, and pianist Ran Dank. The concert, which marks the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival’s final offering of the season, takes place at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, at the Lensic Performing Arts Center (211 W. San Francisco St.). Tickets ($12 to $78) are available by calling 505-988-1234 and from www.ticketssantafe.org. — J.M.K.
