Mystery playhouse: Fiesta Melodrama
Intrigue at the Palace or A Melodrama Marred (by Mysterious, Murderous Mayhem) is the title of the 2015 Fiesta Melodrama playing at the Santa Fe Playhouse (142 E. De Vargas St.) from Friday, Aug. 28. The chief protagonist in the mystery, directed by Andrew Primm, is an intrepid character named Wanda B. Goode. The action is set at a Palace of the Governors dinner at which the guests are hammering out details of the town’s future. But it’s a dark and stormy night, and there’s a grand treasure involved, so at least one murder is inevitable. The melodrama plays on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. through Sept. 13 — but there is no show on Friday, Sept. 4, and there will be two performances on Saturday, Sept. 5. Admission is $20 with discounts available. Tickets may be purchased by visiting www.santafeplayhouse.org; call 505-988-4262 for reservations. — P. W.
