Al­most Adults: A Col­lec­tion of Five Short Plays About Sex, Love, and Im­ma­tu­rity, writ­ten by Aaron Levent­man and di­rected by Alaina War­ren Zachary, opens at Ware­house 21 (1614 Paseo de Peralta, 505-989-4423) on Thurs­day, Sept. 17, at 7:30 p.m. These comedies and dra­mas have LGBTQ themes and are aimed at a teen au­di­ence. Sec­ond Year Itch is about a male cou­ple’s foray into par­ent­ing. In Un­der Age, a drama stu­dent learns lessons in adult sex­u­al­ity too quickly dur­ing a sum­mer fling. The sis­ter in Ma­tu­rity be­trays her gay twin brother by de­cid­ing to live her own life, and in The Boy, an im­ma­ture young man must take a leap into adult­hood when his part­ner’s can­cer wors­ens. Con­fes­sions of a Char­ac­ter Ac­tor, a 1960s pe­riod piece in which a man comes out to his mother, was re­cently in­cluded in Bench­warm­ers 14 at the Santa Fe Play­house. Per­for­mances run Thurs­days, Fri­days, and Satur­days at 7:30 p.m. and Sun­days at 2 p.m. through Sept. 27. Ad­mis­sion is $20, with dis­counts avail­able. Tick­ets for the open­ing are $10 and $6 for stu­dents. Tick­ets for Fri­day, Sept. 18, are $40 and in­clude a preshow re­cep­tion at 6:30 p.m. with Mayor Javier Gon­za­les.
