Ready or not: Five short plays about sex and love
Almost Adults: A Collection of Five Short Plays About Sex, Love, and Immaturity, written by Aaron Leventman and directed by Alaina Warren Zachary, opens at Warehouse 21 (1614 Paseo de Peralta, 505-989-4423) on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 7:30 p.m. These comedies and dramas have LGBTQ themes and are aimed at a teen audience. Second Year Itch is about a male couple’s foray into parenting. In Under Age, a drama student learns lessons in adult sexuality too quickly during a summer fling. The sister in Maturity betrays her gay twin brother by deciding to live her own life, and in The Boy, an immature young man must take a leap into adulthood when his partner’s cancer worsens. Confessions of a Character Actor, a 1960s period piece in which a man comes out to his mother, was recently included in Benchwarmers 14 at the Santa Fe Playhouse. Performances run Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. through Sept. 27. Admission is $20, with discounts available. Tickets for the opening are $10 and $6 for students. Tickets for Friday, Sept. 18, are $40 and include a preshow reception at 6:30 p.m. with Mayor Javier Gonzales.
