SAP RETURNS TO THE ROOTS, acorns ripen in the fall sunshine, and squirrels gather their falling bounty. The sun enters Scorpio today, and the autumn deepens within and without.

The Scorpio sun, along with a beautiful predawn conjunction of Jupiter, Venus, and Mars in industrious Virgo, asks us to gather our summer’s harvest and sort our seeds. We need to decide what efforts to nurture throughout the winter and what we want to compost. Pare down to feel less scattered and thinly spread, and focus on what will produce over the next year. The rest can become fertilizer.

In this light, we may feel like spending less time socializing, but we may have deeper conversations when we do. We might want to date less and love more — to be less of a dilettante in our spiritual practice and deepen our meditation.

The weekend starts out with sensitized emotions under a Pisces moon and as heart-centered Venus trines profound Pluto. We may be painfully aware of what needs healing; compassion may call us to act even if we’re feeling in need of deep soul rest.

Be careful not to hurt one another’s feelings in this sensitive and somewhat defensive time, because when the moon enters Aries on Sunday, our feistiness returns. This nervy excitement can shake loose a few screws, so let’s stay as grounded as possible.

Tuesday brings a richly sensual, stubborn, possessive full moon in Taurus that energizes working relationships and tests ones that aren’t working. If this full moon prods some old scar tissue, let’s hold the people in the room accountable for their present actions but not for the aches of our history.

Midweek softens into a much more appreciative, communicative, even cuddly opportunity to harvest the fruits of our efforts. Let’s share our bounty.

FRIDAY, OCT. 23: Poignancy softens the ground of our heart. Where we feel safe, we can intensely connect to the people and things that matter and commune with creativity. If we have to guard our heart, we do so fiercely. Offer the balm of acceptance tonight.

SATURDAY, OCT. 24: Drift among the falling leaves and wafting memories; introspective melancholia can reduce our pragmatism but give us fodder for contemplation this morning. Notice a growing energy, impatience, and urban vibe tonight.

SUNDAY, OCT. 25: An active, volatile Aries moon can fuel our engines for good or ill. Note a potential for combustible tension or motivating experience, and stretch the heart. Let’s be careful what fires we light as passionate Venus conjuncts expansive Jupiter.

MONDAY, OCT. 26: That impatient Aries moon stresses deadlines and pushes action, but don’t take dangerous shortcuts. Narrow thinking, cranky judgmental attitudes, or transportation limitations can cause delays. Keep the mind open and the eyes alert.

TUESDAY, OCT. 27: Slow it down as the moon waxes full in sensual, earthy, and possessive Taurus this morning. Respect differences; arguments that arise today may not find an easy solution because we dig in our heels.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 28: What we plant today will be unusually fertile and productive as the earthy Taurus moon trines the Jupiter, Venus, and Mars conjunction. Let go of frustrations and focus on what matters. Let’s plant good seeds and make every word, action, food choice, and purchase invoke peace, safety, health, and creative fruitfulness.

THURSDAY, OCT. 29: The conversation picks up as the moon enters verbal Gemini and forms anxious but potentially positive aspects. Help direct the conversation. Don’t buy into the existential anxiety; do use this energy to further those productive seeds.
